My state has no or less no. of vacancies. Can I apply to other state?
Yes but remember the following points
  • you will have to appear for the clerical exam in the state you apply for.
  • knowledge of local language.Although not compulsory, it can fetch you extra marks in personal interview
If selected, you may have to work in a branch located in that state for first few years.

I am waiting for final semester/year results. Is it possible for me to apply?

I don't know the local language of a state.Is that a problem?
It is not a problem but ‘may’ lower your chance of final selection.Since state bank considers it to be an added qualification, the person with language skills could be selected over someone who doesn't know it.
Although you cannot enter degree marks in application, it is possible to specify your std.12 marks (above 60% only) & submit the online application form.

By the time interview process starts you can provide degree/ provisional certificates.

I am currently in 3rd year of college. If appointed, can I join the bank after my course completion?
You will have to discuss about joining dates with the bank directly & if reporting is immediate, they might not entertain your request.

But if you are very much interested to work with State bank group, here is our suggestion,
  • Apply with your std.12 marks (must be above 60%)
  • If chosen after exam & interviews, discontinue regular college & opt for correspondence course while working at the same time.
So decide on whether to continue degree or work as clerk in SBI associate bank.

We hope new & first time registrants would be able to understand these conditions set by state bank of India & decide on their eligibility from this article.
