Baroda Manipal Banking School – Exam Pattern & Selections

With the introduction of IBPS common written exams, individual exams conducted by banks have become a thing of the past.Bank of Baroda & Manipal university while announcing the admissions for Baroda Manipal School of Banking (BMSB) 2012 batch have decided on an eligibility test next month & we take you through its structure.


As part of this tie-up, selected candidate will be enrolled for 1 year PG diploma (banking & finance) course & on successful completion of training they shall be inducted into Bank of Baroda as probationary officer (scale I).

For the current year 2012-13, BMSB is to takein 4 batches (once every 3 months), each consisting of 240 students. 

Selection process

The procedure to gain entry into baroda manipal school of banking goes through these 3 stages,

1. Online aptitude test
2. Group discussion
3. Personal Interview

Baroda Manipal Test Pattern

Unlike regular banking exams involving OMR sheets, this is not a written examination but an online test that is scheduled from July 7 -11, 2012.It consists of the following papers

• Logical aptitude / reasoning
• Quantitative / numerical aptitude
• English language
• General Awareness

Candidates will have to attend around 160-200 questions within 2 hours.

Cutoff & Marks
A total of 200 marks is allotted for the online aptitude test.For each wrong answer, negative mark is awarded (could be 0.25)

Based on the performance in test, cutoffs will be fixed & aspirants shall be called for group discussion & interviews.

Last year, the cutoff scores ranged from 35 – 90 (from the data we collected).

Difficulty level:

BOB states the questions to be of advanced level.It could due to the limited no. of seats available per batch.

We contacted few candidates who sat for the last year`s test.

Though they were not able to recollect the question paper, most agreed that reasoning & quantitative aptitude sections played the tricky part.

Since the period to prepare for baroda manipal`s test is short we suggest registrants to devote extra time for those two papers during preparations.

If you have appeared for IBPS common exams, make use of those guides/books to practice.With just 2 weeks left for the test, concentrate on trying out as many problems possible.

Results:

The first batch of students are expected to join baroda manipal school of banking`s campus at bangalore in August or September this year.

So in all probability one can look forward to the test results by July end that shall give way for GD & interviews in August 2012.

IBPS CWE for RRB - Officer & Office Assistant Exam Pattern

To note:

While unanswered questions are not given any marks, 0.25 as negative mark will be reduced for each wrong answer in both exams.

Officers

Although the exam is for scale I, II (generalist & specialist), III, we shall look at the the Officer (scale I) cadre in depth.

With a 2 hrs 30 mins duration & 200 objective type questions, the outline is as follows
 

Answers for each question in Reasoning & Quantitative aptitude carries 1.25 marks

Computer knowledge section has 20 questions, each worth 0.5 marks

There is no descriptive test

All sections can be attended either in english or hindi medium
Office Assistants

The RRB office assistants test pattern is exactly same as clerical exam in commercial banks.

You will have to answer 200 objective questions within 2 hrs 30 mins & the maximum marks shall be 200.What are the sections?See below:

1.25 marks is awarded for each correct answer in reasoning & numerical ability

General awareness, language test & computer paper carry 1,1 & 0.5 marks respectively.

English or Hindi language paper?

Now this is an important addition to the list of instructions.Since gramin banks are located only within a particular state, employees are required to have proficiency in the local language.

As per the govt.`s official language act, states are categorized as Group A, B & C.

According to it, IBPS says:

Candidates from region A & B can choose to attend either English or Hindi language paper

Those from region C will have to appear in english language test only.

Bank of Baroda Clerk Interviews in July | Cutoffs Released!!

The clerks recruitment announced by Bank of Baroda is nearing completion with the interview list getting released.Initially, the bank allowed only graduates only to apply but reopened the registrations to accept +2 passouts also to apply.This change brought all IBPS CWE qualifiers to fill in applications.


BOB had advertised to fill 2000 clerk vacancies in the months of March/April & the next window for HSC passed came in May/June after a meeting between IBPS & banks.

To sumup on qualification eligibility front – graduates or std.10 or std.12 were able to submit applications for this project.

How many?

As per their notification, BOB should have shortlisted candidates for Interviews in the ratio of 1:4 (gen) & 1:5 (others).The final cutoffs can be seen in the image

The minimum TWS score for each state & category was also specified at that time.

Personal interviews(PI) are to start from July 2 & call letters should be down loaded from their website in the coming days.

With the publication of results, the bank advises those who find their numbers in the uploaded list to regularly check email & SMS for the intimation message from BOB about interview date,time & venue.

About the Interview:

Although the total marks for interview process is not provided, it is necessary to secure atleast 40% (35% for reserved cat.) for proceeding into the final stage.

For final selection, eligible candidates will be ranked as per their TWS scores & performance in PI.The weightage could be in the proportion of 60:40

Union Bank of India to Start Clerk Recruitment – 1600 Posts

Union Bank of India has come out with its recruitment of clerks for IBPS common written exam qualifiers.Being one of the leading public sector banks in India it has a strong network with 2800+ branches & 29,000 employees.Established in the year 1919, Union bank`s head office is situated in Mumbai.

Union bank of India was among the first few banks to recruit for probationary officer posts with CWE scores which was completed within a short time.Lets hope they wrap this hiring also fast.

50 marks is allotted for the interview process & it is necessary to secure atleast 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC) for consideration into final list., which shall be prepared state/ category wise.

Although appointees will be under probation period for 6 months, there is no service bond for clerical cadre employees.

Few weeks back IBPS & banks met to postpone the implementation of change in eligibility - for the next CWE.

Bank of Baroda revised its criteria accordingly & re-opened the application process to facilitate +2 passed candidates also to submit their applications.It has to be seen whether corp. bank modifies or persists with the same.

Selection:

The bank will shortlist candidates from the applications received.The TWS score given above is only for eligibility & it may increase depending on the no. of vacancies & applicants.Also there is no mention of the ratio to be used for shortlisting.

Interview process carries 100 marks & to qualify, you must score atleast 40 marks (35 for sc/st/obc).Questions in local language could also be asked to check your proficiency.

Baroda Manipal School of Banking (BMSB) is setup jointly by Bank of Baroda (BOB) & Manipal group to select candidates, train them in the field of banking & make them ready for bank jobs.On successful completion of training they will be absorbed by BOB as Probationary officers.BMSB has opened admissions for the year 2012 – 13

United Bank of India has opened its recruitment of clerks for those possessing valid scorecards issued by IBPS.About the bank, it was nationalised in the year 1969 & head office in Kolkata, West Bengal.Being one of the leading public sector banks in India, United bank of India has over 1600 branches & 33 regional offices.

Federal Bank has announced recruitment of PO & Clerks for its branches & is inviting online applications from those who have qualified in IBPS common written exams. Established in 1947, federal bank is one of the leading private sector bank in India with head office in the state of Kerala.

During our interaction with the IBPS director Mr.M.Balachandran few months back, he had mentioned about the keenness shown by private banks to use CWE scores for their recruitments.

There is no difference in the selection process between public & private banks. Federal bank will also shortlist candidates for personal interviews based on the TWS scores of applied candidates.

If you are one among the shortlisted, the bank would send an intimation to your email address calling for interview.

Steps to apply:

Application fees of Rs.200 or Rs.50(SC/ST) must be paid in cash using appropriate challan at any branches of Federal bank.

An option to remit fees at any other bank is also available.The details for making NEFT payment are specified in the notice.

Syndicate Bank 1750 PO Recruitment – Final Results are Out!!

The long wait has finally come to an end.Yes, Syndicate Bank has published the list of candidates selected for appointment as probationary officers.The total number of vacancies allotted for this project was 1750 vacancies.In January 2012, the bank had advertised about the recruitment plans which was followed by interviews in the month of March `12.

It has taken over 2 months for syndicate bank to notify these final results after the interviewing stage due to certain legal issues.The big question is whether these chosen people have joined other banks.

Final Scores:

The bank had shortlisted a little over 10,000 applicants for interviews that were held from March 15 – 26, 2012 at various centres across India.

Additionally, they have also revealed the total cutoff marks fixed for each category to facilitate this selection.As per it, total mark is calculated as IBPS Written test (250) + Interview (100) = 350 marks

It has to be noted that selected persons would have to undergo medical test & provide necessary documents for confirming the appointment.

Withheld results
Syndicate bank has citied a case in AP high court as reason for withholding the results of those coming under 4.5% minority subquota (out of 27% OBC quota).It has also informed of releasing the same once the legalities are completed.
